omar salazar, BA

PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Omar works under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Nozaki (PSY35140), performing therapy and psychological testing for clients of all ages. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at California State University, Fullerton. He is pursuing his PsyD in Clinical Forensic Psychology at The Chicago School.

Omar has two years of experience working as an applied behavioral analysis therapist for children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other comorbid disorders. He also has two years of experience working with the transitional age youth experiencing homelessness and mental illness in rapid stabilization, job readiness, and work readiness skills. Omar worked at a forensic and neuropsychological private practice in which he assisted the psychologist in evaluations concerning child custody, parental rights, violence risk assessments, and cases involving personal injuries in the workplace. Most recently, Omar served as a practicum student at Vital Intervention and Directional Alternatives (VIDA), which is a diversion program for nonviolent youth. At VIDA, Omar provided individual and family therapy, as well as conducted psychological assessments concerning emotional, developmental, and behavioral disorders. 

Omar is passionate about combating the stigma surrounding mental illness, as well as working with diverse populations. Omar views the therapeutic relationship with his clients as a collaboration and strives to work with his clients at their own pace. Furthermore, he is bilingual in English and Spanish.
