Mikayla Sweeney, BS & BA

PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Mikayla works under the supervision of Dr. Samira Vafadar (PSY28213) and Dr. Nicole Lightman (PSY28608), performing therapy and psychological testing for clients of all ages. She is currently pursuing her PsyD degree in Clinical Psychology at the Chicago School, and earned her B.S. in criminal justice and B.A. in psychology from San Diego State University. She intends to graduate with an emphasis in child and adolescent psychology, preparing her for a career supporting pediatric cancer patients, survivors, and their families.

She approaches therapy with a strong emphasis on collaboration and compassion, recognizing that each individual brings a unique set of experiences, strengths, and preferences to therapy. She believes that therapy is most meaningful when it is tailored to the individual and strives to create a supportive environment in which clients feel heard, understood, and actively involved in their care. She is passionate about helping individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves in hopes of empowering them to make meaningful changes and take intentional steps toward optimizing their health, happiness, and overall well-being.
