PRACTICUM TRAINEE

Kevin works under the supervision of Dr. Matthew Nozaki (PSY35140), providing therapy and participating in psychological testing with clients of all ages. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University.

Before entering the field of psychology, Kevin spent nearly three decades working in human resources and healthcare, where much of his career involved helping people navigate difficult situations, major life changes, workplace challenges, and interpersonal relationships. More recently, he has worked directly in behavioral health with adolescents in a residential treatment setting. These experiences have given him the opportunity to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and at very different stages of life.

Kevin believes therapy works best when people feel comfortable being themselves and don't feel judged or talked down to. His approach is collaborative and practical, with a particular interest in cognitive-behavioral therapy and other evidence-based approaches. He believes understanding why we think or behave a certain way is important, but that therapy should also help people figure out what to do next. Kevin values humor, authenticity, and meeting people where they are. He wants clients to feel like therapy is something they are doing together, rather than something being done to them.
